I've got a 2017 BMW X1 xDrive and I've noticed something weird. When I'm making a tight turn into a parking spot or doing a U-turn, the car feels like it's binding or stuttering, almost like the brakes are dragging. It doesn't happen in a straight line, only when the steering wheel is near full lock. A friend said it could be the transfer case fluid breaking down or maybe the clutches in the transfer case are worn. I've read that these xDrive systems can act up if the fluid hasn't been changed. I'm not sure if the previous owner ever did it. I need to find a shop that offers Top-Tier Transfer Case Service and can diagnose whether it's just a fluid change or something more serious like the actuator motor failing. Has anyone here had this binding sensation on tight turns with an F48 X1 and fixed it with a simple transfer case fluid change? Also wondering if mismatched tire sizes or uneven tire wear could cause this issue. The car has 110k km and the tires are all the same age but different brands.
