Can an inspector check if the AC is about to fail?
I'm looking at a 2014 Jeep Wrangler in Downtown Dubai and I'm really worried about the AC. With summer coming, I cannot afford to buy a car that needs a new compressor or evaporator. The seller says the AC blows cold but I've been burned before where a car seemed fine on a test drive but the AC died a month later. I want to get an inspection that goes beyond just sticking a thermometer in the vent. I found a company that offers Efficient Inspection Dubai Downtown and they said they can check AC pressure, look for leaks with UV dye, inspect the clutch, and even check the condenser for damage. Is that enough to predict if the system will fail soon? Also wondering if they can tell if the system has been recently recharged to hide a leak. The Jeep has 120k km and I know the AC systems on these aren't the most reliable. Has anyone had an inspection that caught a failing AC before they bought? What did they check? Any advice on what to ask the inspector to focus on would be great. Thanks.
